On September 1st, Medina Sunrise Rotary held our meeting on historic Medina Public Square at Honey Bee Bakery, continuing a sweet tradition that first began in July 1994, with 28 charter members who founded our Rotary club.
That first gathering gave rise to Sunrise on the Square, and on that very day we planted a Bur Oak seedling grown from Rotary founder Paul Harris's homestead— This was our club's first community project and a lasting symbol of new growth.
Each fall since, we've gathered at the square for coffee, inducted new members, honored Paul Harris Fellows, taken our club's annual photo, and walked together to visit "our Rotary tree." More than 30 years later, Sunrise on the Square remains one of our most meaningful traditions—a joyful reminder of the fellowship that Rotary has given us.

PS: This second photo is of Johannes Faber. Johannes is the son of Marcus Faber, who was Medina Sunrise Rotary's very first Exchange Student (Germany), present for the planting of the Rotary tree years ago. Marcus, his wife and four children are visiting Medina this month. Johannes helped me tidy up the commemorative plaque.
